Ⅰ. Jasmy’s IoT platform
JasmyNet is a network environment that only Jasmy and recognized alliance companies can participate in. With the large-scale enterprise participants as the center, anyone can use the network continuously and safely by the consensus algorithm. Moreover, records such as data, keys and hash values can also be written into blocks. Each enterprise can provide its own smart contracts and services, which can also be integrated into our services, so that each company can use public data to provide services. This is our original business model, and we are now preparing to apply for a patent.
Jasmy held a press conference on March 29 to introduce its “Jasmy IoT Platform” (hereinafter referred to as “IoT platform”) and the launch of the “Jasmy Initiative” project of the joint venture based on IoT platform. The IoT platform provides each company with three elements by using blockchain technology: the security, management and ecosystem of the IoT device network, which can reduce the cost of building the IoT system.
Mr. Yasushi Yoshida, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Jasmy, explained about Jasmy’s IoT infrastructure. The IoT platform will use its own private blockchain developed in cooperation with the partner New Zealand Central Limited. It uses IoT-specific consensus algorithm, and the block creation interval is very short, less than 1 second. The blockchain network provided by the IoT platform is collectively referred to as “Jasmy.NET” by Jasmy.
The operation of IoT devices connected to Jasmy.NET is controlled by smart contracts on the blockchain. Metadata such as video and audio data are processed in distributed storage location outside the blockchain. IoT devices and applications connected to IoT devices are respectively connected to Jasmy.NET through P2P communication, ensuring security.
Ⅱ. Jasmy’s devices
To convert the device specification into that of Jasmy single-board computer and smart watch with IoT, the device needs to be connected to the IoT platform, and the 4 square centimeter electronic board (single board computer) or smart watch type wearable device developed by Jasmy that supports 4GLTE, Wi Fi and other connection standards needs to be used. By installing these devices, existing devices can also be connected to Jasmy.NET and easily converted into IoT.
Ⅲ. Seven elements of Jasmy’s blockchain “Jasmy.NET”
In addition, by combining the mechanisms of “KYC” (know your customer) and “KYM” (know your machine), and using NFC or facial recognition mechanism to identify the distributed ledger of authentication data of devices or individuals connected to Jasmy.NET, the security against unauthorized use of devices can be improved.
At the venue, the method of using the IoT platform was also demonstrated, in which the smartphone is used for remote response after the intercom is connected to the Jasmy.NET. About 1 second after calling, a visitor notification appears on the terminal side, and it is confirmed that the instructions such as unlocking and ignoring can be executed through the application.
In the demonstration, Jasmy.NET was used for remote intercom control. On the right is the intercom response (unlock/ignore) decision screen. The left side displays the block creation status, and the new block is created in a few seconds.
IV. Provision of security protection for connected device
In addition to Jasmy.NET, IoT platform has two core services. “Safety Knowledge Communicator” (SKC) has the function of disclosing or extracting personal information in blockchain to service companies according to users’ wishes. “Smart Guardian” (SG) registers and manages IoT devices in Jasmy.NET. With regard to SKC, it is said that demonstration experiments are being conducted in the customer service chat window.
Jasmy’s IoT platform can protect connected devices from malware and other threats, as well as device management (such as remote shutdown when devices are lost). In addition, we will support making the data collected by devices valuable to build an ecosystem. This will be a mechanism that fully supports the most expensive part of the construction of conventional IoT systems.
Mr. Yasushi Yoshida said that traditionally, the development of IoT device and its ecosystem requires huge costs, which makes it difficult for small and medium-sized enterprises to enter the field. With the IoT platform, IoT devices can be created by using DApps to create device operations and connect to the electronic board. Jasmy said that the IoT platform can remove barriers to the entry into the field, enable relevant development from small and medium-sized enterprises to individuals, and promote innovation.
Jasmy would establish an alliance “Jasmy Initiative” in April to take advantage of the Internet of things platform, which aims to provide commercial services through various demonstration experiments with participating companies, and was expected to be commercialized as early as the summer of 2019. A total of 10 companies, including Transcosmos Co., Ltd. and VAIO Co., Ltd., will join in the alliance. Although the specific company names are not disclosed, they still cooperate in the demonstration experiment of SKC. Other companies are welcome to join us anytime.
V. Convenience of providing services to users
Mr. Sato, President of Jasmy Joint-stock Company, said at the meeting that he was developing a “data lake” as a mechanism to use the data collected by devices connected to the IoT platform. After deleting users’ personal information, participating companies can browse useful statistical information.
In addition, in order to broaden the foundation of IoT system development, it is also considering holding a hackathon that individuals can participate in. He emphasized that Jasmy’s IoT platform provides easy system creation and convenience for participating companies to provide services to users. “I expect every participating company to be user oriented and use Jasmy’s IoT platform to create new products.”

Sato, President of Jasmy Joint-stock Company, has served as chairman and general manager of Sony Style.com, executive director of Sony Marketing Joint-stock Company and president of Sony Style, chairman and general manager of Sony Style Japan and executive director of Sony Marketing Joint-stock Company, head of innovation center of Sony corporation, chairman and general manager of BJIT Joint-stock Company. He has served as a director of Jasmy Joint-stock Company in April 2016 and President of Jasmy Joint-stock Company in November 2018.
Yasushi Yoshida, Vice President and CTO of Jasmy Joint-stock Company, has served as president of Sony Handheld Computer company, head of JST department (head of the Japanese business unit) of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communication (now Sony Mobile Communications International AB), executive director and chief product and service officer of Softbank Joint-stock Company. He is currently the Chairman of Dream Forest Joint-stock Company and has served as the Director and CTO of the company in April 2016.
